Mayobanex Suazo promotes professional growth for Dominican architects in Spain

The Dominican architect and urban planner, Mayobanex Suazo, held a meeting with the dean of the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM), Sigfrido Herráez, in order to strengthen academic and professional relations between Dominican and Spanish architects.

Both professionals also raised the possibility of creating opportunities for cooperation in research projects, with the aim of enriching training and experience in the field of architecture and urban planning.

During the meeting, Suazo was accompanied by the Dominican vice-consul in Madrid, José Julio III Schiffino, representing the Consul General, Miguel Vásquez Peña.

The Dominican architect expressed his willingness to collaborate with COAM and other Spanish institutions to promote innovation and excellence in urban design and planning in the Dominican Republic and other Latin American nations.

At the meeting, Suazo presented COAM with copies of his book "La Primada, Génesis del Urbanismo en el Nuevo Mundo" (The First City, Genesis of Urbanism in the New World), a work that offers a historical and evolutionary narrative of the urban growth of Santo Domingo, covering social, political, cultural and economic aspects from its founding to the present day.

At the same time, he announced the launch of a new edition of his book in the city of Madrid, in collaboration with the University of Extremadura (UEx), and his participation in future events organized by the COAM.

Suazo was also received by Dr. Javier Melgosa, professor and former director of the Master's Program in Sustainable Urban and Territorial Development at the University of Salamanca, as a graduate of that program. They discussed the importance of sustainable urban development in Latin America and the need to continue working together to find innovative solutions to the urban challenges facing both countries.

The Dominican urban planner was also invited to the National Reference Center for Civil Works in Paracuellos, a landmark institution in the field of technical training in construction, where he presented his urban research in the Caribbean region. "Urban research is a field of vital importance for the sustainable development of our cities," he emphasized.

Mayobanex Suazo's visit to Spain not only strengthens ties between Dominican and Spanish architects, but also underscores his commitment to promoting sustainable urbanism in Latin America, according to a press release.

Suazo has held important exchanges for the strengthening of Dominican architects and territorial planning in Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, Poland, El Salvador, and Nicaragua.
