Asphalt paving completed in Bonao communities

BONAO. – Vice President Raquel Peña and the Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, inaugurated the paving of the streets in the communities of Palmarito, Juan Adrián and Arroyo Toro-Masipedro, in the province of Monseñor Nouel, with an investment of more than 300 million pesos.

In her keynote address, Ascención emphasized that projects like these demonstrate that work is being done to benefit diverse communities.

“Today we feel proud and satisfied to inaugurate more than 5.2 kilometers of internal streets in Palmarito, where a hardworking community of men and women live who deserve a neighborhood with paved streets, sidewalks and curbs, properly marked and safe, to guarantee a dignified and pleasant life for all these Dominican families,” he said.

She said that the housewives in the communities benefiting from this project can say that the change promised by President Abinader has arrived in their homes. “They will no longer have to struggle every day to remove dust and clean mud from their homes, and their children will be able to walk on the sidewalks without fear of being hit by a vehicle.”.

The streets of the Palmarito sector, located right on the edge of the Duarte highway, cost more than 150 million pesos, and include sidewalks and curbs, horizontal and vertical signage.

In the municipal district of Juan Adrián, located right on the edge of the road that leads from Piedra Blanca to Rancho Arriba, in the province of San José de Ocoa, Ascención explained that the works consist of the paving of 7 kilometers of internal streets in this town, with a width of 5.3 meters, sidewalks, curbs, gutters for rainwater runoff, as well as the placement of base and sub-base to guarantee the durability of the structures and stability of the work carried out.

“All these streets have been built with a budget exceeding 49 million pesos, and the work has been carried out by the construction company Moll over a period of four years,” he added.

These works directly impact more than 3,500 inhabitants who make up this agricultural and livestock community of humble and hardworking families.

“This project was built by the firm Guzmán Rodríguez y Asociados, with an execution budget exceeding 107 million pesos, contracted through a transparent process and developed in a record time of 5 months since its start in February of this year,” he noted.
