SANTO DOMINGO– Luz Sarmiento believes that women should not be recognized for being women, nor men for being men. “Every human being should be valued for their merits, so we should all strive to improve every day, regardless of gender,” emphasizes the CEO of Urban Realty Group.
This High-End Woman is the founder of this firm better known as Urban Group, which began operations eight years ago and employs 90 women.
“For me, International Women’s Day goes beyond a simple celebration; it’s a reminder of the valuable contribution women make in all aspects of society. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the challenges overcome, inspire other women, and advocate for equal opportunities,” the executive told El Inmobiliario , regarding the series of articles this publication is producing to commemorate March 8.
Sarmiento understands that International Women's Day encourages women to continue working together to build a future where all women can reach their full potential, without barriers or limitations.
She says she feels valued in her role as leader of one of the leading real estate firms dedicated to the sale of tourist properties in the country, highlighting that she has been surrounded by wonderful people who constantly praise her work.
“I recognize that we are the product of our environment, emphasizing the importance of family and quality friendships. I feel that God has been very generous to me,” she says.
When considering the current role of women, she believes that they play a very active role, being the head of the family in most Dominican households, adding that universities are full of women, and companies have female talent, with Urban being a clear example with 90 women in its ranks, "which fills me with pride," she emphasizes.
For Luz Sarmiento, being a woman is a privilege because it has given her the gift of giving life and the ability to do multiple things at the same time, each with her own unique touch.
She urges women today to prepare themselves, study, and strive for self-improvement, as success lies in being the architect of their own path. And for young women, she offers the following advice: “There is no time to lose in forging your future. Each one has the potential to do great things and not depend on anyone; on the contrary, you should strive to be women who contribute to your community, your homes, and your country.”.
