Jahaira Batista: I urge women to never settle for less than they deserve

The fight for gender equality remains relevant, and it is crucial that society commits to creating environments where all women feel valued, respected, and have access to equal opportunities.

SANTO DOMINGO – Jahaira Batista is part of the current leadership of the Dominican real estate sector. The sales director of Noval Properties, Santo Domingo, is among the still small number of women who hold executive positions in this field, where female representation reaches approximately 70%, according to unofficial figures.

Batista understands that while there has been progress in the recognition of women, it is necessary to continue working to eliminate gender inequalities, promote inclusion and respect for women in all spheres of society, and ensure that they can exercise their rights and reach their full potential.

She adds that although women currently hold 35% of managerial positions, reflecting remarkable progress, the gender gap at the highest levels of leadership remains evident.

“I urge women to continue being agents of change in their communities, in their workplaces, and in all spheres of society. Support one another and never settle for less than you deserve. Celebrate your achievements, your talents, and your ability to inspire and lead. Value yourselves and recognize the worth you possess as women,” the executive from the developer Noval Properties told El Inmobiliario , on the occasion of the upcoming International Women’s Day on March 8.

Batista understands that the date dedicated to recognizing the struggle of women not only highlights the progress achieved, but also the challenges that still persist in the search for gender equality, and that this commemoration takes on crucial importance by recognizing the valuable contribution of women in all sectors, including el inmobiliario, and by promoting continuous efforts towards achieving complete equality.

She believes that as women advance, it is essential to break down barriers and challenge stereotypes to ensure that they have equal opportunities in all aspects of life, including the workplace and decision-making.

She believes that the feeling of being valued as a woman can vary according to personal experiences, and that while some experience a full sense of worth and respect in their communities and environments, others face challenges and discrimination that impact their perception of self-worth.

“The fight for gender equality remains relevant and it is crucial that society commits to creating environments where all women feel valued, respected and have access to equal opportunities.”.

Batista is part of a business group where the majority are women, with Noval Properties being one of the companies in the industry that currently has the largest number of female executives on its staff.

Regarding her position at the prominent development company, she explains that throughout her career, she has worked diligently to develop her skills and make significant contributions to the team. “I feel valued for my achievements and am committed to continuing to acquire new skills and face challenges to reach my professional goals and contribute even more significantly to the company’s success.”.

Being a woman, for her, is a multifaceted experience that varies from person to person, but often involves facing challenges and celebrating achievements in the fight for equality and recognition. “I am proud of the woman I am and of the experiences throughout my life that have allowed me to demonstrate my skills, knowledge, and contributions to society. Being a woman has given me the opportunity to be a mother, a daughter, a friend, and a professional who strives every day for success for myself and those around me.”.

Jahaira Batista understands that in recent decades, significant efforts have been made to promote gender equality and eliminate the barriers that have historically limited women's recognition and full participation in society, but that much remains to be done to achieve complete gender equality. She adds that in many parts of the world, women continue to face discrimination and gender-based violence.

This high-end woman urges the new generation to always be authentic, courageous, and persevering. “The world needs you and your contributions. Believe in yourself and never underestimate your power to create positive change in your life and the world around you.”.
