Road Construction Begins: Intrant reports traffic restrictions on a section of Avenida España

Intrant reports that it is restricting traffic on a section of Avenida España

SANTO DOMINGO.- The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) reported this Monday that it has restricted vehicular traffic due to debris on Malecón Avenue, near La Marinita, Santo Domingo East, until that area is restored.

The saturation of the soil due to the rains that occurred over the weekend caused the collapse of a cliff near the floating bridge over the Ozama River.

The affected area is located on the Malecón Avenue, near Johnny Pacheco Boulevard. No injuries were reported from the landslide.

In a press release, Intrant recommends that drivers use the following alternate route in the East-West direction: Av. España, Calle María Trinidad Sánchez, Avenida Malecón, until reaching the Floating Bridge.

While in the West-East direction, vehicular traffic is restricted through the Floating Bridge, so the following alternate route is advised: Avenida Francisco Alberto Caamaño, Calle Juan Parra, Isabel La Católica and Avenida México to reach the Mella Bridge.

It is also recommended to turn left after the Floating Bridge, north of Malecón Avenue and then España Avenue.

Once the area is rehabilitated, Intrant will duly inform citizens, the agency stated in the press release.
