SANTODOMINGO – On the occasion of the United Nations World Tourism Organization choosing the theme “Tourism and Peace” to celebrate World Tourism Day yesterday, September 27, Grupo Piñero announced that it has launched social actions in all its destinations to reinforce its strategy of promoting a tourism model that generates a positive impact on local communities.
As part of its commitment to communities, the brand said it carried out activities to promote well-being and social development, and these actions included collaborations with schools, associations and local authorities to support the most vulnerable groups, improve infrastructure and promote education.
This was announced through a press release, which states that in several destinations, donations of food, school supplies and basic products were made to associations that work with children and young people in vulnerable situations.
"These collaborations aim to meet basic needs and offer educational opportunities through cultural excursions and mentoring programs. An example of this is the collaboration with the Itzé Nah Association in Mexico, as well as with the San Pedro de Macorís City Hall, in the 'Plastic for Schoolchildren' campaign in the Dominican Republic," the press release highlights.
It notes that educational excursions were also organized for children and young people from local communities, giving them the opportunity to learn about the cultural and environmental heritage of their own countries, while fostering awareness of the importance of environmental conservation, activities which, the Group assures, are key to reinforcing the value of education as a tool to promote peace and understanding.
Grupo Piñero explains that it involved its employees in the celebration of World Tourism Day with initiatives designed to promote their active participation and strengthen their sense of belonging. Among the highlighted activities were contests focused on promoting local tourism, which invited employees to share their best experiences with clients, encouraging creativity and recognizing the best anecdotes.
It adds that educational activities were also carried out in the workplaces, where employees identified their favorite tourist destinations within the countries where they operate, with the aim of promoting domestic tourism and appreciation of their own culture and environment.
"In other destinations, such as Tenerife, employees participated in a photography contest, highlighting the beauty and diversity of tourist destinations and encouraging them to capture images that reflect the cultural and natural richness of their surroundings.".
Actions for customers
Grupo Piñero's clients also took part in the World Tourism Day celebrations through activities specially designed to promote knowledge and appreciation of local culture.
"In all its destinations, cultural fairs were organized where customers explored local crafts, participated in educational games about the world's capitals and flags, and enjoyed markets with typical products from each region," he notes.
These activities were designed to promote understanding and respect between cultures, while allowing visitors to learn more about local products and traditions in the destinations they visit, all under the framework of the motto "Tourism and Peace".
