SANTO DOMINGO- The COE, Emergency Operations Center, offered this Monday the details of the operation corresponding to Holy Week 2023, which will put into action some 3,247 first aid stations throughout the country, to safeguard the lives of vacationers.
Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the agency, explained that this year's program will have 570 ambulances, 252 Immediate Response Units (URI), 49 crane stations, 16 road protection and assistance devices, and 19 boats with 24 mobile workshops.
“From this Thursday, April 6th, until Easter Sunday, we will deploy more than 48,578 people for the development of the 'Conscience for Life, Holy Week 2023' operation,” Méndez explained.
The head of the COE asked the population for excessive caution, after stating that the prevention and security operation, which works in conjunction with other government institutions, will begin on Thursday, April 6 at 2:00 p.m. and will conclude on Sunday, April 9 at 6:00 p.m.
Méndez revealed the details in the company of the heads of the Ministry of Defense, Public Health, the National Police, the General Directorate of Transit and Land Transportation, and other entities
In addition, the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) has prohibited the circulation of cargo vehicles from Thursday at 06:00 in the morning until Monday at 05:00 in the morning.
For the Easter holiday, the authorities will also have 3 helicopters, 10 Pre-Hospital Care centers, 2 mobile hospitals, 43 OMSA buses, 21 Centers for the location and care of Lost Children and 9 Regional Command Centers.
"I want to reiterate that Holy Week is a time for reflection and family unity. I urge the public to do their part to avoid situations that could endanger their lives or the safety of their families," concluded the COE director.

The country's civil protection agency stated that the measure seeks to preserve the lives of the thousands of people who will be traveling during the holiday.
The areas closed for your enjoyment will be under the supervision of Civil Defense volunteers, as well as uniformed members of the Dominican Navy and the National Police.
