SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Labor announced the dates corresponding to the holidays of the year 2023.
Law No. 139-97 regarding the transfer to Mondays of holidays that fall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays, was published on June 25, 1997, and therefore, in accordance with the provisions, it must be applied in all establishments in the country.
In that regard, these will be the dates that will apply during the next year:
Sunday, January 1st, New Year's Day, is not changed.
Friday the 6th of the same month, Three Kings Day, is a work holiday and is moved to Monday, January 9th.
Saturday, January 21st, Altagracia Day, remains unchanged. The 26th, Juan Pablo Duarte Day, is a working day but will be observed on the 30th of the same month.
Monday, February 27, which is the Dominican Republic's Independence Day, as indicated by law, will not be changed.
Good Friday, which is April 7th, is not changed.
Labor Day does not move either; nor does Corpus Christi , which is Thursday, June 8.
Restoration Day, Wednesday, August 16, is not changed, according to what is indicated in article 35 of the Constitution of the Republic, according to sentence number 14 of 20/02/2008 of the Supreme Court.
The other days that are not subject to change are the Day of Our Lady of Mercy, Constitution Day and Christmas Day, which correspond to September 24, November 6 and December 25, respectively.
