SANTO DOMINGO.- While developers are issuing complaints about late deliveries on orders for shaped steel, Gerdau Metaldom affirms that everything is normal at the company and that its commitments to its customers remain unchanged.
“Normally, orders for shaped steel take seven days to deliver, 15 on special occasions, but now they've sent orders for more than 30 days; it's never been delayed this long before,” explained architect Yoryi Marrero
Pedro Arias, Sales Manager of Gerdau Metaldom, stated that the company maintains its commitment to its clientele and that "we are not failing to honor the commitments we have with our customers.".
He explained that shaped steel is a service that is agreed upon in advance with the client and is always fulfilled, although he states that it depends on the client's needs as well as the opportunity of the production plant.
“It’s a special, custom-made product, tailored to the specific needs of each client, but we always adhere to the commitment we negotiate and agree upon with them. If you order it, you pay for it along with your order so that it can be manufactured to your specifications,” Arias explained.
For Marrero, this is a fluctuating situation that greatly affects developers, since most benefit from an agreement offered by Gerdau Metaldom in which the price is set for six months, with the guarantee of maintaining exclusivity of purchase; otherwise, the agreement is cancelled.

Marrero argues that developers are disadvantaged by long deadlines because they tie them down, delaying their plans and projects, "but the worst part is that they are paid for in advance.".
