Foreign businessman highlights that the Dominican Republic currently offers the best investment climate in Latin America

Bricket's next project is in Punta Cana, projected to be announced in the coming months, and in this new venture, the sustainable component will be present, one of the fundamental pillars of the brand.

SANTO DOMINGO.- Mariano Briceño, an investor who came from Venezuela more than 20 years ago to place his capital in real estate projects, believes that the Dominican Republic's economy currently offers the best investment climate in all of Latin America.

“I see it doing wonderfully well. I think it has the best geography in all of Latin America; it’s an excellent, wonderful country, as demonstrated over the last 20 years by the economic, macroeconomic, and social development it has been experiencing,” he responded when El Inmobiliario asked him about the current investment climate in the country.

The businessman noted that the Dominican Republic currently exhibits a sense of unity across all sectors, driving the country to strengthen and improve. “There is a national sentiment where everyone wants things to go better for them; there are no major disputes or conflicts. Politically, we have a good government, with alternation of power and a strong democracy.”.

He added that the country also has diverse sources of development, not only in tourism, but also in exports from free trade zones and the Adozona, which are performing exceptionally well, as well as in agriculture. "In other words, this country has between six and seven sources of income generation, which is very important.".

And he emphasized: “One thing I think is fundamental is that the people and the country are richer than the government, and that means that any public policy has to be understood by the sector and the country with the governments; that has a balance that is very important, that is unique and it has to be taken care of and we all have to keep pushing.”.

Briceño arrived in the country in 2000 with his company Bricket, having gained extensive experience in building real estate developments in Colombia, Brazil, Panama, the United States and his native country.

Faced with the fierce competition unleashed in the national market in recent times, he assured that his company will stay afloat because “the concept of Bricket is about value, it is about producing a product that has greater value and that has to do with the way we treat the customer, from before, during and after the sale and all the attributes that we add to the product in the construction process and in this close relationship we have with the customer to understand them and that is what makes us different.”.

In his more than 50-year career, he has built over 20,000 housing units, emphasizing that he stayed to reside in the Dominican Republic with his family because it is a culture with which he identifies and “where we also felt we could be part of the development and contribute efficiently to it. We feel fully identified with Dominican culture and we came here to contribute, to collaborate and help make it a better country,” he highlighted.

He said that his first development was in Juan Dolio, and that when law 189-11 on the mortgage market and trusts came into effect in the country, he began to build large projects such as Colinas del Viento, on Jacobo Majluta and Caroní, in Villa Mella, Santo Domingo Norte.

Briceño explained that the company's philosophy is to always innovate, improving and growing to maintain their leadership in real estate development.

“We don’t just build houses, that’s our strength, but we also develop industrial facilities, warehouses, logistics centers, clinics, sports fields, pharmacies, and we offer contracting services to do things for third parties.”.

They will arrive in Punta Cana

Bricket's next project is in Punta Cana, projected to be announced in the coming months, and in this new venture, the sustainable component will be present, one of the fundamental pillars of the brand.

"It will be an important project in all aspects of sustainability, zero carbon emissions, and a number of other things that I believe will set an important benchmark in the area.".
