The Carnival Celebration, with 6,275 passengers and 1,763 crew members; the Carnival Vista, with 4,738 passengers and 1,417 crew members; the Grandeur of the Seas, with 2,300 passengers and 771 crew members; the Norwegian Encore, with 4,903 passengers and 1,631 crew members; and the Scarlett Lady with 2,347 passengers and 1,168 crew members, were the five transatlantic ships with 27,313 people, including cruise passengers and crew members, that arrived this Tuesday at the maritime terminals of Puerto Plata.
Of the vessels, the Amber Cove terminal, owned by Carnival Corporation, in the Maimón municipal district, received two ships, while the other three anchored in the port of Taíno Bay, belonging to the ITM Group company, located in the capital municipality of the province of Puerto Plata.
Atahualpa Paulino, director of Tourism in that province, reported that this figure is the highest number of visitors they have received in a single day to date.
For Paulino, this impressive deployment of cruise ships not only enriches the tourist offering of Puerto Plata, but also boosts the local economy, as visitors will have the opportunity to "enjoy Dominican hospitality, explore the natural and cultural treasures of the province, and immerse themselves in the unforgettable experiences that this wonderful destination offers.".
He also highlighted that the arrival of this number of visitors and cruise ships to Puerto Plata is a direct result of the "confidence and commitment of President Luis Abinader and Minister of Tourism David Collado.".
He also indicated that his visionary leadership has consolidated the province as an attractive world-class tourist destination, generating economic opportunities and highlighting the success of the government's strategy to promote sustainable tourism in the Dominican Republic.
