Families from 15 sectors of Santo Domingo East receive property titles

SANTO DOMINGO EAST.– The Government, through the State Land Titling Technical Unit (UTECT) and the General Directorate of Assets (BN), delivered 2,759 property titles yesterday, Sunday, to families in 15 sectors of the municipality of Santo Domingo East (SDE).

At the ceremony, Vice President Raquel Peña stated that, with the delivery of these 2,759 titles to the same number of families who own homes and plots of land in the Cancino Adentro sector, the Government is providing legal security to hundreds of Dominicans.

“We are contributing to building a fairer, more equitable, and prosperous country, where everyone has the same opportunities to grow and develop,” Peña added, while indicating that each title is much more than that, “it is the guarantee of their home, their roof over their heads, their security. It was always theirs, but today they can sleep more peacefully, because what was once theirs in fact, is now their right.”.

Meanwhile, UTECT's executive director, Duarte Méndez Peña, said that more than 98,000 Dominican families have received their property certificates, because President Luis Abinader is convinced that these titles change lives and give peace and security to all Dominican families.

“Today, June 2nd, the time has come to deliver 2,759 titles to the same number of families who own homes and plots of land in this sector of Cancino Adentro, who make up the third phase of the El Tamarindo project,” Méndez Peña indicated.

He added that in January and March of this year, property titles corresponding to the first and second phases of the project were delivered, benefiting a total of 6,488 families in the Villa Tropicalia, Corambal, Margara, Casita de los Padres, El Perla, Kennedy I & II, Méjico Lindo, El Tablazo, Margara I & II, Brisas del Edén, La Ureña, Villa Carmen and El Almirante sectors.

To make this dream a reality, the Technical Executive Unit, together with National Assets, worked on a geographical area of 350,169.57 square meters.

By order of the president, the Government has saved the beneficiaries a total of RD 220,720,000.00, so today they receive them free of charge.

Also present at the event were Rafael Burgos, director of National Assets and the CEA; Julia Drullard, governor of Santo Domingo; Antonio Taveras, senator of Santo Domingo; Mayor Dio Astacio, among other officials.
