A commission of engineers from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications visited the area and carried out a geometric survey for the basic construction design of the Sabana Grande de Boyá-Juan Pablo II Highway, whose community members have denounced the urgency of the intervention of the road.
According to a press release, the objective of the government technicians' presence is to begin work on the long-awaited highway as soon as possible.
The municipal director of Gonzalo, Horacio Jolicover, along with councilman Olvis Soriano, received the commission of engineers also made up of members of the company that is in charge of the reconstruction and expansion work.
Deligne Ascención, head of Public Works, reported several months ago that the construction of the road that connects Sabana Grande de Boyá with the Northeast Highway, about four kilometers long, leaving through the community of La Tarana, was placed in an emergency tender.
The reconstruction of said road will have a length of 3.25 kilometers, an average width of 7.00 meters, sidewalks 1.00 meter wide, asphalt concrete pavement two inches thick and curbs 0.55 meters wide, details the press release.
The general work consists of engineering works, traffic maintenance, and camp.
Jolicover stated that the start of the road construction will bring peace of mind to hundreds of families residing in the area, as well as to visitors.
He assured that in the coming days, the Ministry of Public Works and the Municipal Board of Gonzalo will announce other projects that will impact the community with great benefits.
The mayor of the municipality of Sabana Grande de Boyá, Marcos Tavarez, participated in the meeting, where he received information about the work that will be carried out.
