The Dominican Republic received an official invitation to participate in the Future Aviation Forum 2027, a meeting that would take place between Saudi Arabia and the 23 member states represented in the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (CLAC), to identify joint initiatives.
During the celebration of the El Alamein International Airshow 2026 with authorities from Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Julio Peña Guzmán, president of that organization and of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), met with representatives from the Middle East, with the interest of analyzing opportunities for technical exchange, air connectivity and strategic relationship for the nations that make up the regional organization.
The local delegation, accompanied by the organization's secretary, Jaime Binder, participated in the opening ceremony of the meeting, which was attended by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, along with international authorities and delegations.
Institutional strengthening
In a bilateral meeting with the Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh Ahmed Zaky Elhefny, the Venezuelan delegation discussed mechanisms for institutional strengthening, dialogue and aeronautical cooperation between Arab countries and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the role of civil aviation in bringing the two regions closer together.
Also, during a meeting with the Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia (GACA), Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duaileg, both parties made progress on the proposal to hold, during the Future Aviation Forum 2027, a special meeting between Saudi Arabia and the 23 member states represented in CLAC to identify joint initiatives.
“Our goal is for these meetings to translate into concrete results: technical cooperation, capacity building, and new connectivity opportunities between Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. CLAC will serve as the institutional bridge to bring both regions closer together,” stated Peña Guzmán.
New collaborations
The initiatives promoted by the CLAC Presidency seek to open new avenues of cooperation between Latin America and the Middle East in areas such as aeronautical regulation, technical exchange and specialized knowledge, with potential impact on air connectivity and the strengthening of tourism and trade ties between both regions.
CLAC's participation in the El Alamein International Airshow 2026 strengthens its position as a regional space to articulate new opportunities for aeronautical cooperation between Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East, according to information released by the JAC.
