Banks will travel to Fitur 2023 to support the development of the Dominican tourism industry

SANTO DOMINGO.– Banco Popular Dominicano and Banreservas announced that they will be present at Fitur 2023, the 43rd edition of the International Tourism Fair, which will take place from the 18th to the 22nd of this month in Madrid, Spain, to support the promotion of the Dominican Republic and its potential as a tourist destination.

In the case of Banco Popular Dominicano, it assures that it will reaffirm its support for the development of the national tourism industry and that its executives will complete a broad agenda of business and institutional meetings totaling 40 encounters, where possible tourism developments will be evaluated, financial advice will be offered to corporate clients in the sector, and the destination will be promoted among potential investors interested in the country.

In addition, the entity said in a press release that it will take advantage of the exposure provided by Fitur, the main professional platform in Europe, to promote the tourism potential of the Dominican Republic and present its recent institutional book "Dominican Rivers. Networks of Life," which increases the visibility of the domestic tourism offerings that the country has to offer, in addition to its beaches and coastal resources.

Popular considers Fitur to be the gateway to European markets for both tourists and investors, with a significant impact on Latin America. It reports that the 2022 edition exceeded 111,000 attendees, 73% of whom were professionals, in addition to more than 33,000 virtual registrations.

“Last year, the Dominican Republic was the guest country, and the official delegation included the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader. It was estimated that over US$2 billion in business deals were closed, and the country was awarded the prize for best booth by the fair's organizers.”.

Banreservas and its projects

Banco de Reservas announced that it will develop an intense agenda of activities at the Fitur 2023 International Tourism Fair, in support of tourism investment in the Dominican Republic.

The bank reported that discussions will include financing for the Punta Bergantín Project in Puerto Plata; hotel investments in Miches; and the opening of a representative office in the Spanish capital.

He also announced that the various venues of the important tourism fair will be used to hold meetings with investors in the sector interested in developing or expanding hotel complexes, as well as other facilities and initiatives linked to the industry.

The general manager of Barnreservas, Samuel Pereyra, will head a business delegation, which already has scheduled meetings before and during the celebration of the fair, which will take place inside and outside the Ifema venue, the entity that organizes the event and which for this year estimates that there will be more than 8,630 exhibitors and the participation of some 82,000 professionals and the visit of some 30,000 people.

Details of the financing for the Punta Bergantín Project and hotel investments in Miches will be provided by Pereyra during the traditional cocktail party organized by Banreservas for investors and hoteliers, in addition to meetings he will hold with media representatives.

Regarding the opening of the representative office, the entity says that there is already great anticipation from the Dominican community residing in Spain, because they will be able to obtain banking services linked to the Dominican Republic.

"This will be the first step towards the internationalization of Banreservas, which has also begun the process of opening facilities in New York, Miami and Panama.".

With these representative offices, the financial institution says it seeks to strengthen business ties with the diaspora, which has always been attached to its Dominican origins.
