SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced this Tuesday that it has 25 different completed projects scheduled for delivery, awaiting President Luis Abinader's announcement of a date for their inauguration and commissioning before the end of this year, and another 116 projects before next February.
This was announced by Minister Deligne Ascención, who stated that the MOPC would be completing many of these projects before February 27th of next year, including the expansion work being carried out at Kilometer 9, at the entrance to the Capital from the Cibao region.
“Projects like the Palace of Justice in Santo Domingo East are still missing a few details; it’s quite a large project, probably the largest building project undertaken in the country in the last 40 or 50 years, with about 50,000 square meters of construction,” he said
The official was interviewed by journalists at the end of the mass held at the Santa María la Menor Primatial Cathedral, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, which was officiated by Monsignor Francisco Ozoria.
Among these works is also the section of the Ecological Avenue to the Pan-American Avenue, "where we are only waiting for the completion of the toll, and today I received a report that it is in a fairly advanced state to be delivered.".
Regarding the Baní bypass, he said that this is a project that is progressing at an appropriate pace and should be completed by the first quarter of 2025.
Ascención also said that progress has been made on the Navarrete bypass, but that "it is from now on that it will accelerate its pace, because we have reached an agreement with a good part of the owners for the expropriations, as well as on República de Colombia Avenue, with the owners starting in January.".
He also mentioned the Villa Elisa-Punta Rucia highway and a number of other important projects scattered throughout the national territory.
Regarding the paving plans, he said that the MOPC has a complete schedule and that as soon as weather conditions permit, the institution will announce "the places where we will be present with the paving, as well as with the construction of sidewalks and curbs.".

Kilometer 9
Minister Ascención highlighted that all the work being done at Kilometer 9 of the Duarte Highway is also close to completion, and consists of three bridges and the widening of Luperón Avenue.
“We are concluding the construction of the dividing wall, and we have gained two additional lanes to improve traffic there, as well as in the back, where we only have to finish the wall above on John F. Kennedy Avenue and pave below on Luperón, and advance a little towards the Km 9 part of the Cloverleaf, where the transporters are,” he indicated.
