SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Republic will host the International Congress of Architecture and Urbanism (CIAO) from October 22nd to 25th of this year, organized by the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU).
Five architects from various countries will come to the training day that promises participants experiences that will inspire and transform their architectural and urban perspective.
“These thought leaders have been carefully selected for their ability to inspire, challenge, and motivate the academic and professional community. With a diversity of approaches and a wealth of experience, our speakers not only represent the cutting edge of architectural research and practice, but also embody our commitment to innovation and sustainability,” states the event website.
He adds that the congress will not only discuss the latest global trends in architecture, but will also offer unique opportunities to understand how architecture can be integrated sustainably and aesthetically into a Caribbean context.
“From the conservation of architectural heritage to the exploration of contemporary designs adapted to the climate, the Dominican Republic is becoming a living laboratory for architectural creativity.”.

About CIAO
The International Congress of Architecture and Urbanism is the country's first international academic architecture congress and is organized by UNPHU. The event will be held in Spanish, but some presentations will be in English with simultaneous translation.
It will take place on October 22, 23, 24 and 25, 2024.The 22nd is exclusively for guided city tours for participants who book in advance (limited space), on the 23rd there will be guided tours in the morning and the opening and keynote address in the afternoon; the 24th and 25th will be dedicated to presentations, discussions, workshops and keynote addresses.
