SANTO DOMINGO.-The Cibao Association presented the book Beyond the North: History, Vision and Legacy of the Cibao Savings and Loan Association, a chronicle written by historian Edwin Espinal Hernández that compiles the more than 62 years of evolution of the mutual entity since its founding in 1962.
In parallel, the financial institution presented an audiovisual that summarizes the institutional history, its milestones of expansion, digital transformation, internal well-being and sustainability, reaffirming the commitment of the Cibao Association to a development model based on the triple bottom line: economic, social and environmental.
Rafael Genao Arias, president of the entity's Board of Directors, expressed that this book represents a reaffirmation of the commitment to institutional transparency and to the collective memory of an entity that has accompanied the growth of thousands of Dominicans.
“Beyond the North is not just the title of the book, it’s also a declaration of principles… More than six decades ago, we were a small team with a big dream: to promote savings so that every family could have a decent home. Today, we are a strong, innovative, and humane financial institution with a national presence, a sustainable vision, and a social commitment. But we remain, in essence, the same: a trusted institution,” he emphasized.
In the words of its author, Edwin Espinal Hernández, the text details the evolution of an entity created to promote savings for housing, into a multi-service financial organization, innovative and with strong community roots.
The work continues the book Building the Progress of Santiago, which covers the first 35 years - also by the same author - and includes a prologue by the distinguished economist and historian Bernardo Vega, who highlights the strength of the financial institution over time and its relevance within the Dominican financial system.
José Luis Ventura, the executive president, praised this project as “the beginning of a new stage of further growth and evolution for our institution. It is a reaffirmation of principles, purpose, belonging, a shared legacy, and a symbol of the strength of a team committed to the present and future of the institution.”.
The event took place at the Cibao Association Corporate Tower in Santiago, with the participation of directors, collaborators, strategic partners and members of the press.
The book will be available virtually on the entity's website www.acap.com.do for consultation and public reading, while the audiovisual is available on its YouTube channel.
