SANTO DOMINGO.-The Association of Women of Small, Micro and Medium Construction Enterprises (MUPYMECON) held the first day of the Technological Tools 4.0 course-workshop, a training designed to empower professionals in the construction sector, through the mastery of essential digital resources for the development and management of their businesses.
For six weeks, 15 participants received practical training in the use of platforms such as Google Drive, WhatsApp Business, Microsoft Teams, among others, with the aim of reducing the digital divide that limits the growth and competitiveness opportunities of many women in the MSME sector.
Erminda Decena, president of the entity, indicated that the initiative arises as a direct response to a concern of the board of directors, after detecting —following an activity carried out by the Ministry of Women— that the lack of knowledge of technological tools represents one of the main obstacles for many female entrepreneurs to access marketing opportunities, participation in tenders, continuous training, and promotion of their products in digital environments.
“We decided to open this space because many women couldn't access government programs or promote their businesses because they didn't know how to use basic tools like email or a cloud storage account. This left them out of the market. That's why this course won't be a one-off; it will be ongoing,” Decena explained.
The course, taught by Miosotys Rojas and coordinated by Roxanna Brito, Vice President of Training, has been designed with a formal structure and content adapted to the needs of the target audience, mostly adult women, from both urban and rural areas, with or without technical training.
In addition to the practical sessions, certificates of participation were awarded to attendees who completed the majority of the program hours. The association reported that some participants will receive their certificates at upcoming meetings, as the course will remain open for those who wish to complete the remaining modules.
The organization, which represents small and medium-sized enterprises, reaffirmed its commitment to offering this course continuously and accessibly, opening it whenever a new group of at least 15 interested women is formed. The initiative is open to all women entrepreneurs in the country, regardless of whether they work in the construction sector or another area of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
With this action, the organization continues to strengthen the role of women as drivers of national economic development, providing concrete tools for their full integration into the digital age.
