SANTO DOMINGO- Gerdau Metaldom announced that it will transform its energy matrix with a new solar park where 3,336 solar panel modules will be installed distributed in the flat products and wire warehouses, a project that projects an estimated cost of USD$1.1 million.
A company statement indicates that the installation process will take approximately 3 to 6 months and the total power of the park will be 1,499 kW, with an average annual production of 2,241,904 kWh and a potential savings of US$800,000 per year.
The facility will be located in the Duarte Industrial Park and will be built by the company Total Energies.
“Once again, we are demonstrating our company’s commitment to sustainability issues, investing in the use of renewable energy in our processes and reducing the environmental footprint of our products,” said Jefferson Marko, CEO of Gerdau Metaldom.
The company would be reducing CO2 emissions by 1.4 million kilograms. (External source)
The executive added that the project is aligned with the business strategy of being a leading company in ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) issues, as well as with the plans for Energy Generation, Energy Sustainability and Carbon Footprint Reduction.
With the implementation of this project, the company would be achieving a reduction of 1.4 million kilograms of CO2 per year, as part of the objectives established by the company in the Emissions Intensity Reduction Roadmap for the next 10 years.
The company explained that the work will be carried out under all electrical safety and industrial safety guidelines according to international standards and brand standards.
