Autumn has arrived, bringing with it a time of warmth and harmony. Handmade or natural elements, walls with character, country decor, plants, sculptures with Taíno designs, aged wood, chairs made of natural fibers like wicker or rattan, leather furniture, soft and lightweight fabrics like wool or cotton, eco-friendly materials, and a palette of vibrant and neutral colors are some of the decorating trends for autumn/winter 2022.

Cottagecore: Countryside and Tradition
Also known as "farmcore" or "countrycore," this style seeks to revive the charm of country homes. This trend is popular among younger generations and digital natives. The key to "cottagecore" decor is its cozy, nostalgic feel. "What predominates in these homes is rustic and country style; soft, pastel colors, prints, natural and knitted fabrics, lighting, and warmth; always with a touch of romance," describes Forbes magazine.
Boho: a fusion between hippie and bohemian
The "boho" style aims to create a bohemian and nomadic feel without sacrificing elegance. The natural aspect of this trend is reflected in everything from tapestries, rugs, and cushions to materials like rattan—also known as "straw" or "cane fabric"—ceramics, glass, wood, and select textiles.
Industrial style: factory feel
Also known as “Industrial Design,” this trend, which has grown since 2017, is inspired by factories from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This style is characterized by its raw, unfinished look. Solid materials such as concrete, steel, iron, copper, brick, and untreated wood predominate. Colors like black, gray, and white are most common; however, “new industrial” encourages the addition of colors like yellow, red, green, and terracotta to add brightness, as well as natural materials and houseplants.
Other decorating trends for this season published by the newspaper "Diario Libre" in September 2022 are: warm colors, eco-friendly furniture, minimalist and Mediterranean style, mosaics and geometric shapes, transparent elements, metallic decoration, plants, natural fabrics and spaces to disconnect.

In an article published by Pantone and written by Laurie Pressman in February 2022, Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute (PCI), stated: “Looking ahead, we see two emerging paths that, while completely different, are inevitably interconnected.
This intense dichotomy manifests itself in our color choices for Fall/Winter 2022/2023, where we see bold and sassy colors that lend themselves to exaggerated statements reflecting our desire to embrace life in all its vigor, merging with a variety of neutral and natural tones that embody a sense of calm and containment and satisfy our need for harmony and tranquility.”.
