SANTO DOMINGO.- ACOPROVI, the Association of Housing Builders and Developers, is preparing to complete its board of directors, for which it is calling an assembly to be held tomorrow, Wednesday, February 16, at four in the afternoon.
In its digital channels, the entity states that the positions that are vacant are first, third and fourth vice president; secretary, first member, auditor, associate representative and corresponding representative.
The new Board of Directors took office just a year ago, and the statutes specify that they were elected for two years, with the exception of the first election which lasted one year, according to the statutes posted on the entity's website.
The construction workers' association explains that the activity will take place in the Corporate Building of the Popular Association of Savings and Loans (APAP); in a combined in-person and virtual format.
The Electoral Commission will be composed of engineers Jaime González, Francisco González, and Guido Rosario. According to the protocols announced via social media, the mandatory use of face masks and presentation of a vaccination card showing at least two doses will be required.
As requirements for candidates to apply for one of the available positions, the posts on the ACOPROVI platforms state that it is necessary to be an active member, be up to date with the payment of your fee until December 2020, be present in any of the approved modalities and have a minimum of three years as a builder and promoter.
To exercise your right to vote, you must be an active member, be up to date with your membership dues until December 2020, confirm your participation in advance and specify whether it will be virtual or in person, and confirm the details of the person who will represent the company beforehand.
“Our Association has the firm purpose of revitalizing the housing construction and marketing sector, so your active participation would bring us closer to this goal,” the entity states in the call for participation.
The statutes
The current Board of Directors for 2021-2023 is chaired by architect Jorge Montalvo, who assumed the position last year. The Association's bylaws stipulate that “ Members of the Board of Directors will be elected for two (2) years, as follows: The positions of President, Second Vice President, Vice President-Treasurer, and Second Member will serve two (2) years, elected in odd-numbered years. The positions of Secretary, First, Third, and Fourth Vice Presidents, and First Member will also serve two (2) years, with the exception of the first term, which was one (1) year. These positions will be elected in even-numbered years. Past Presidents will become permanent advisors to the Board.”
