PALENQUE, SAN CRISTÓBAL.- Greater legal security for their plots or homes, increased property value, and access to formal credit from financial institutions were the benefits cited by President Luis Abinader when highlighting the delivery of 986 property title certificates to community members in this town.
Through the State Land Titling Technical Unit, the Government delivered nearly a thousand property titles to the same number of families in the municipality of Palenque, a community located in the south of the country, this Saturday.
In presiding over the handover, the president stated that the land titling process lays the foundation for a more equitable distribution of wealth, ultimately benefiting the well-being of Dominican families. “If this isn’t social justice, I don’t know what is,” the president declared.
Abinader urged community leaders to form a committee to expedite the delivery process and avoid misunderstandings when beneficiaries fill out the documents required for the titling procedure.

“With the issuance of these 986 property titles, we saved the beneficiaries a total of RD$78,880,000.00, because if they had carried out the work privately, each property would have cost a minimum of RD$80,000.00, making it clear that this amount is for plots of a small size,” the official explained.
He added that in the last two years 72 titling projects have been carried out and that another 47 projects are underway in 25 provinces.
