Abinader issues regulations for the operation of the Ministry of Housing
President Luis Abinader issued Decree 236-22, which establishes the organic and functional regulations for the Ministry of Housing, Habitat, and Buildings (MIVHED). This decree, comprising 96 articles, aims to define the ministry's powers, functions, internal structure, and organization, as well as the level of authority and interrelationships of its officials both internally and with affiliated entities.
Banreservas announces “Holidays”, with zero interest
In celebration of Mother's Day, Banco de Reservas relaunched its Happy Holidays program, offering customers 0% financing and terms of 6 to 12 months, so they can enjoy vacations at hotels and other domestic tourist destinations. Banreservas General Manager Samuel Pereyra explained that the bank, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, developed these benefits to support tourism and the well-being of Dominicans.
Prices of all fuels sold in the country are frozen
The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and SMEs has ordered that fuel prices for all 10 types sold in the country remain the same as last week for the week of May 14-20. The government announced it has allocated RD$1.35 billion in fuel subsidies to curb price increases and mitigate their impact on inflation in the local market.
A section of the Northeast Highway will be closed starting Monday
The Ministry of Public Works announced that a section of the Northeast Highway will be closed starting next Monday for asphalt repairs. According to a press release, the work on the highway, also known as the Juan Pablo II Highway, will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The affected section will be between the intersection with the Mella Highway and the connection to the Santo Domingo Bypass, and only one lane will be closed.
Five provinces led the way in formal job creation in the Dominican Republic in March
The five provinces that led formal job creation in the country last March were Peravia (177), the National District (88), San Pedro de Macorís (81), La Altagracia (75), and San Juan (48), based on the change in the number of workers per 10,000 inhabitants. Conversely, the provinces with the largest reductions in this sector were Hato Mayor (-680), Elías Piña (-209), Santiago Rodríguez (-50), and Bahoruco (-20).

The Colonial City of Santo Domingo will focus on culture to strengthen its tourism offerings with a series of initiatives that include renovations to four museums in the area, key players in the Dominican capital's tourism sector announced Friday. Conatra prohibits passenger transport to Haiti due to violence in that country, asdoes Caribe Tours
The National Confederation of Transportation Organizations (Conatra) announced Friday that, following the surge in violence in Haiti, it has decided to prohibit all transportation services that include entry into the country. Caribe Tours has suspended all trips to Haiti for the time being. "We held a meeting with the DNI (National Department of Investigations) and they are taking the necessary steps to secure security from the Haitian police," the company's executive vice president, Paúl Guerrero, told EFE on Friday.
Losses caused by atmospheric phenomena in banana plantations in Cibao are estimated at RD$3 billion
More than 30,000 acres of banana plantations were affected in the northern region due to a combination of rain, wind, and hail that struck that part of the country in recent days. The damage was felt most intensely in communities in the provinces of La Vega, Espaillat, and Hermanas Mirabal.
