SANTO DOMINGO.- Last Tuesday, the world's most popular accommodation platform, which had recorded more than $150 billion in revenue since its inception by December of last year, inaugurated its revamped design, adapted to the needs of travelers who use this type of lodging.
One of the new features presented was AirCover, a free protection now included with all trips. This summer, millions of people will decide to travel for the first time since the pandemic began, the platform's founders understand. "That's why Airbnb created AirCover, the most comprehensive free protection in the world of travel. AirCover will always be included and is always free," said Brian Chesky, CEO and Co-Founder of Airbnb.
From now on, when booking accommodation through Airbnb, with AirCover guests will have four protections:
- Booking protection guarantee: In the unlikely event that a host has to cancel your booking within 30 days of check-in, Airbnb will offer the guest similar or better accommodation, or refund their money.
- Alternative arrival guarantee: If a guest is unable to check in and the host cannot resolve the issue, Airbnb will offer similar or better accommodation for the duration of the original stay, or provide a refund.
- Listing fidelity guarantee: If at any time during their stay, the guest believes that their accommodation does not match the description (such as the refrigerator not working and the host cannot easily fix it, or there being fewer rooms than shown in the listing), they will have three days to report this situation and Airbnb will help them find similar or better accommodation, or refund their money.
- 24-hour protection line: If the guest ever feels unsafe, in addition to public emergency services, they will have access to a priority line with specially trained security agents, day and night.
“AirCover is built directly into the Airbnb app and website, making it easy to contact an agent and resolve issues quickly. Airbnb has created a dedicated customer support team specifically trained to provide last-minute booking assistance. They’ve also significantly expanded their 24/7 protection line to serve users in 16 languages,” Chesky explained.
A revolution with giganticfigures
As of December 2021, Airbnb had six million active listings worldwide, one hundred thousand active locations, more than 220 countries, one billion travelers have used the platform to stay, more than four million hosts, and more than 150 billion dollars in revenue since its inception.
