Inflation moderates in the US in April; rising incomes support spending
Price increases moderated in the United States in April, according to the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation index, the PCE, released Friday, although household spending continued to rise in tandem with increasing incomes. Inflation over the 12 months ending in April was 6.3%, down from 6.6% in March, according to the Commerce Department's PCE index. Only 7.9% of very poor households receive water in their homes
The inequality in access to drinking water in the Dominican Republic is so extreme that only 7.9% of households in the lowest socioeconomic bracket receive running water within their homes. Nationally, however, 53.6% of households receive water. These figures are contained in the basic report of the Dominican Republic's National Household Survey (Enhogar) 2021, which also states that 41.7% of households in the country receive water service for domestic use only two to three days a week.
