With an investment of $272 million, works begin to boost tourism development in Samaná

SAMANÁ.- The Plaza del Pueblo de los Pescadores, a landmark of Las Terrenas, along with a group of other projects, was officially inaugurated yesterday by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, who stated that the total construction volume will amount to 272 million pesos.

These projects will take place in the municipalities of Las Terrenas and El Limón in the province of Samaná, and include paving of streets, lighting, beach access, reconstruction of the Fishermen's Village and sewers, among others.

They will be under the supervision of the Executive Committee for Infrastructure of Tourist Zones (Ceiztur) and the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) and are part of the strategic plan to strengthen the tourist offer of Samaná.

"After a transparent process, today we return to Las Terrenas to begin work on the Plaza del Pueblo de los Pescadores, a true symbol of this beautiful tourist destination, blessed by nature," Collado explained.

Fishermen's Square

The Plaza del Pueblo de los Pescadores (Fishermen's Village Square) is a project with an intervention area of ​​4,930 square meters. The 190 linear meters of roadway, located along the entire frontage, will be paved, and a 960-square-meter plaza will be created to integrate the surrounding area with the retail spaces.

In addition to having three access points to the beach, the project will house 10 food sales modules, as well as two restrooms, an information point, general service rooms, lighting and signage.

The project includes general lighting, landscaping, a security system, a cistern, a pumping station, speed bumps, garbage containers, and bicycle parking, among other facilities

Estillero Beach

The reconstruction of the access road to Playa Estillero, in the municipality of El Limón, consists of the rehabilitation of the two-lane road, each lane 2.50 meters wide, which connects Playa Estillero with the road to Las Terrenas, over a length of 2.45 kilometers, divided into four road axes towards the beach.

The project also includes the construction of triangular concrete ditches and slopes to create longitudinal drainage to ensure the durability of the road to be built.

The project includes repairing existing speed bumps, installing lighting, and cleaning the road. It will also involve constructing concrete drainage ditches, protecting slopes, laying asphalt concrete, and installing horizontal and vertical road signs.
