SANTO DOMINGO.- Multiple banks have expanded their ATM network, concentrating some 3,114 units spread throughout the national geography as of October 2022, reported the Association of Multiple Banks of the Dominican Republic (ABA).
A press release states that through expansion, multiple banking has managed to penetrate different locations in the country in order to provide coverage and access to customers who reside outside the metropolitan area, where 49.5% of the total ATMs of multiple banks are concentrated.
The ABA reported that the volume of debit card transactions at multiple-bank ATMs reached 91.5 million transactions in October 2022, with a projection of 109.8 million transactions by the end of 2022. This would represent a 10.6% increase compared to the 99.3 million transactions recorded in 2021.
The volume of cash deposits at ATMs of multiple banks reached almost 8 million transactions in October 2022, with a projection of 9.6 million by the end of 2022, according to the ABA. It stated that this would represent a 14% increase compared to the 8.3 million transactions recorded in 2021.
He stated that thanks to the technological adjustments implemented by multiple banks to make these operations possible, customers can make their deposits at any enabled ATM, without having to go to the teller area, which results in time savings when seeking the service.
The ABA specified that customers can make withdrawals at ATMs of up to RD$50,000 daily in several transactions, and in a single operation the amount fluctuates between RD$10,000 and RD$20,000, depending on the financial institution.
The association noted that the sector continues to invest in this type of service in order to meet customer demand, although there is a greater tendency among citizens to use digital channels for their transactions.
