SANTO DOMINGO –Not only was she the first woman president of the Association of Housing Builders (ACOPROVI), but she was also a staunch defender of her sector, deeply committed to all the causes surrounding the industry, and a tireless fighter. Reviewing her two consecutive terms as president of the Association clearly demonstrates her inexhaustible work ethic and her desire to leave an indelible mark.
We share a short summary of her career as president of ACOPROVI, taken from the Association's Instagram, which shows evidence of the mark of a woman who was "High-End".
All the activities described below were part of the legacy that Susi Gatón left during her two terms at ACOPROVI and were part of her work plan during her presidency of the organization. The following texts are taken verbatim from the social media posts:

Today, our Board of Directors welcomed @luisabinader @prm_oficial and part of his team to exchange views on the future of housing and construction in our country. We discussed at length the challenges we face in social infrastructure and basic services, as well as measures to address the housing deficit.
"Together with the Urban Planning team, we launched the POT Capital 2030 book, which contains the draft of the Territorial Planning Plan for the National District. With this, I see the vision we wanted to leave as a legacy realized, a vision we hope the city of Santo Domingo will achieve in the coming years. We are laying the groundwork so that our beloved city can continue developing, becoming more livable, resilient, humane, and accessible.".
Yesterday we met with the candidate for Mayor of the National District @carolinamejiagomez for the @prm_oficial party and she presented the management model to be developed if elected and we signed a cooperation agreement to continue the progress in the Territorial Planning Plan (POT).
"Since our founding in 1997, we have been committed to the creation of a housing law, as we are the only country without this essential tool for human development. Given the significant complexity of this sector, we believe it is necessary for public policies to stem from legislation that encompasses access, production, the market, and urban planning rights, in accordance with our Dominican reality. And with a full house we concluded the Workshop on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism and Law 155-17, led by expert @heiromycastro and part of the commitment we have assumed at Acoprovi for the benefit of our members #Acoprovi #TrainingIsBuilding.
We recently held an interesting working group meeting at @proconsumidorrd, in conjunction with @aeiorg and @codiacentral , studying the proposed "Real Estate Provider Registry." This tool would strengthen the credibility of those involved in the housing sector, and its registration would be voluntary
We thank Minister @winstonsantosu of @mtrabajord for completing a full work agenda with our Board of Directors, led by @ingsusigaton and other executives, with the aim of strengthening labor aspects of the construction sector @carolasteffani

She was the daughter of the prominent physician from San Francisco de Macorís, Ángel María Gatón, and her mother, María Teresa Hernández, was a nurse and also worked as a seamstress. She was the mother of three sons: Carlos, Ángel, and Jorge Paulino Gatón. She graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and held a postgraduate degree in Public Administration. She also completed a specialization in Planning and Formulation of Policies, Programs, and Projects for Social Housing.
Invited by the Northeast Regional CODIA on August 21, 2017, she called for an alert regarding the accelerated process of horizontal urbanization of the city, so it is necessary to demarcate an area that concentrates a higher density with high-rise buildings, in order to make transportation services, electrical networks, aqueducts and others more efficient.
"We are motivated by initiatives that support the sector, such as the recent measure issued by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, through the Monetary Board and Governor Héctor Valdez Albizu, who, at our request, increased the maximum amount of homes that can be purchased through mortgage loans, in the release of the legal reserve requirement." His death
Yesterday, ACOPROVI and Pedralbes announced his passing. He was serving as general manager of the Pedralbes Group at the time of his death.
