The hotel chain issued its first official statement on Saturday regarding the incident that occurred on Friday in Bayahibe
SANTO DOMINGO.– The Viva Wyndham chain confirmed this Saturday, June 20, the death of one of its guests during the fire that affected the facilities of the Dominicus Beach hotel the previous day, in Bayahíbe, La Altagracia province.
In an official statement, the company expressed its regret over the death and extended its condolences to the family, while indicating that the results of the autopsy are awaited to determine the cause of death.

The fire was attended to on Friday by the Emergency Operations Center (COE) in coordination with regional fire departments, who managed to contain the blaze, which, however, left economic losses that have not yet been quantified.
COE reports the conclusion of the operational phase
The director of the COE, Juan Manuel Méndez, reported this Saturday that the operational phase of the response to the fire that occurred at the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach hotel in Bayahibe has concluded.
He explained that it was thanks to the coordinated work of the emergency agencies and that the fire was completely controlled, guaranteeing the safe evacuation and relocation of the guests.
Authorities confirmed that the Viva Wyndham Dominicus hotel was not damaged by the fire and continued operating normally. During the emergency, guests were preemptively moved to safe, well-ventilated areas.
