SANTO DOMINGO – The United States Embassy issued a series of suggestions to visa applicants, including staying away from immigration offices and lawyers that offer expedited appointments, and warned about individuals attempting to manipulate the scheduling system through unauthorized methods .
The diplomatic mission explained in a statement on its website that, thanks in part to anonymous reports from citizens, it is aware of individuals seeking to disrupt the visa appointment system through bots, that is, automated programs, as well as through other unauthorized mechanisms.
Measures against manipulation are being strengthened
The Consulate reported that it is implementing additional technical measures to address this situation and warned that any applicant who attempts to manipulate the appointment system will face consequences.
The institution reminded everyone that each person is responsible for their visa application and pointed out that any attempt to alter the process is unfair to other applicants and may put the applicant at risk.
These are the consequences
Possible measures that could be applied include canceling the appointment, refusing the visa, and canceling a visa.
The Embassy also warned that paying third parties to obtain an expedited appointment may jeopardize the applicant's ability to travel to the United States.
A call to respect the process
Given this situation, the US representation urged applicants to follow the established rules and avoid any mechanism aimed at obtaining an appointment irregularly.
“Protect yourself, protect the process. Follow the rules, do not try to manipulate the appointment system,” the Embassy said, reiterating its call to stay away from immigration offices and lawyers offering these services.
