Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated the Tourist Pedestrian Walkway dedicated to traditional music in Cabrera, María Trinidad Sánchez province, yesterday, Sunday. This point of interest and meeting place in the area is part of the project to renovate public spaces and promote this destination.
According to a press release, the project, built for an amount exceeding nine million pesos, consists of the intervention of a pedestrian path of approximately 62 linear meters and 592 square meters.
The path is a continuation of the new Cabrera boardwalk , connecting Lorenzo Álvarez Street to Duarte Street.
"For us, the most important thing is how our interventions impact the communities and raise the bar, and in this way we can bring tourism to every corner," said Minister David Collado.
The project includes an access plaza and connection between the boardwalk and the path, as well as a viewpoint to accommodate the local fishermen.
The project consists of the beautification of public space and was directed by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure of Tourist Zones (Ceiztur) with a total amount of RD$9,450,000.82.
It features landscaping, lighting, amenities, and urban art on the new adjoining wall, which provides privacy to the residents of the area and at the same time a focal point in the area.
In addition, work was carried out to improve the adjacent houses, including exterior painting and the channeling of wastewater from the surrounding communities towards a water absorption well.
The intervention was considered within a path created by the Cabrera community facing the coast, connecting the new boardwalk with Lorenzo Álvarez street, a space that did not have adequate conditions for circulation and use of the area.
The construction project includes: floors, benches and concrete tablets, sculptures, lighting, trash cans, landscaping: Isla Verde and Palma Cana.
