SANTO DOMINGO. The morning session of the 5th National Congress of Engineering, Architecture and Surveying, organized by the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (Codia), will begin on Saturday the 25th with the conference “Sustainable Drinking Water Supply System”.
Engineer Felipe Suberví, executive director of the Santo Domingo Water and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD), will be at the helm of this exhibition.
Transmission System, Challenges: Transportation and Operation of the National Interconnected System (SENI) in the Face of the Penetration of Renewable Energy Sources, will be presented by engineer Martin Robles, executive director of Dominican Electricity Transmission (ETED), at 9:45 AM.
The conference “Food Production in Times of Crisis” will be given by the Minister of Agriculture, Limbert Cruz; Antonio Almonte, Minister of Energy and Mines, will give the keynote address “Present and Future of Energy in the Dominican Republic” at 11:30 AM; while Jhael Isa, Director of Projects at the Ministry of the Presidency, will speak about “Integrated Planning and Transportation: Advantages of the Monorail in Santiago.”.
“Hydroelectric Projects: Clean Energy” will be led by engineer Rafael Salazar, executive director of the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (EGEHID), and the presentation “Architecture and Urbanism: City, Shared Future” will be given by architect José María Ezquiaga Dominguez from Spain.
The "Sustainable Mobility/Country Brand" event will be facilitated by architect Richard Moreta Castillo, advisor to the Vice President of the Republic. The event is scheduled to conclude at 5:30 PM with an awards ceremony and a toast.
The program in room 2 begins at nine in the morning with the presentation by the president of the Dominican Association of Housing Builders (ACOPROVI), Jorge Montalvo, who will refer to the “Housing Construction Sector, Estimates, Challenges and Opportunities”.
The conference “Seismic Risks in the Dominican Republic” will be led by engineer Osiris de León; from Mexico comes engineer Ricardo Fritz López with the conference “Geodesy and Topography”; “Comprehensive Management of Urban Solid Waste, Human Rights and Health” will be given by José Leonel Cabrera, minister in charge of the General Directorate of Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency.
The agricultural engineer Gilberto Reynoso, director of the Water Cabinet, will speak on the “Situation of Water Resources in the Eastern Region,” while the conference “Importance of Prevention and Education Regarding Tsunamis in Tourist Developments” will be led by civil engineer Leonardo Reyes Madera, from 4:15 PM until five o'clock, the time at which the activity concludes, which will take place at the Bávaro Barceló Grand Resort.
