SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications will close various overpasses in Greater Santo Domingo (including tunnels, overpasses and bridges) to vehicular traffic from Monday, November 28th until Saturday, December 3rd, in order to carry out maintenance work.
The cleaning plan will take place from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following day.
The work to be carried out includes solid waste collection, sweeping and collection of aggregates, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, pressure washing of New Jersey type walls, railings and the interior area.
During the days of today, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, maintenance will be carried out on the dry bridge at kilometer 13 of the Duarte highway and the Prolongación 27 de Febrero.
The underpasses at Mirador Sur and Italia avenues, Núñez de Cáceres and Cayetano Germosén avenues, Independencia avenue, and George Washington avenue will be closed tonight.
Also, the Núñez de Cáceres tunnel, the Ramón Matías Mella and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez bridges; the overpasses at John F. Kennedy Avenue with Luperón, and Padre Castellanos with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez Avenue, as well as the Duarte Highway overpass with entrance to Los Alcarrizos.
On Tuesday, work will be carried out on the overpasses of Luperón Avenue with the 30 de Mayo highway, and the one on the Duarte highway with Los Beisbolistas Avenue, as well as the tunnels of Las Américas Avenue, and of 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset.
On Wednesday, the closures will include the overpasses at 27 de Febrero with Máximo Gómez, and Tiradentes; the dry bridges at kilometer 14 of the Duarte highway, 25 de Febrero with San Vicente, San Isidro highway with Las Américas highway and 25 de Febrero.
Maintenance will also be carried out on the overpasses of the Duarte highway with Monumental Avenue; 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset, and the grade separations of Las Américas Oeste with 25 de Febrero, and San Vicente de Paul with Las Américas highway.
On Thursday night there will be closures on the overpasses of the Sánchez highway with Independencia avenue, Quinto Centenario with San Martín, Charles de Gaulle with San Isidro and Mella highway, and the Quinto Centenario with Tunti Cáceres and Peña Batlle underpasses.
On Friday, December 2nd, the following roads will be closed: the bridges on the 6 de Noviembre highway, the Sánchez road and the Ozama; the overpasses of the Expreso Quinto Centenario with Duarte Avenue and with Hermanos Pinzón Street; the Jacobo Majluta underpass with La Isabela road, and the marginal tunnel of the Las Américas highway.
While on Saturday the control centers of Ortega y Gasset-UASD Avenue, Las Américas, the long tunnel of 27 de Febrero with Lincoln and Winston Churchill will be closed due to electrical work, for which no closure is required.
Also, the grade separations of 27 de Febrero Avenue with Doctor Defilló, Carmen Mendoza and Núñez de Cáceres, Kennedy with Gómez and Los Reyes Católicos with Zoo Avenue.
Additionally, maintenance will be carried out on the Ortega y Gasset Tunnel Control Center (UASD), work that does not require closure.
