SANTO DOMINGO.-The Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) and the Dominican Republic Navy (ARD) signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement this Friday aimed at implementing actions in areas of common interest, within the competencies and legal nature of both institutions.
The document was signed by the executive vice president of ETED, engineer Alfonso Rodríguez Tejada, and by the commander general of the Navy, vice admiral Bienvenido Crisóstomo Martínez, according to a press release from the Presidency.
“The transmission network is critical infrastructure for the Dominican State, and maintaining and expanding it requires coordinated efforts from public institutions. This agreement allows us to access technical assistance in naval, port, logistical, and specialized personnel aspects, strengthening our operations throughout the country, areas in which the Navy plays a particularly important role. This alliance translates into a safer and more reliable for Dominicans,” said Rodríguez Tejada.
The agreement establishes the general basis for technical and institutional cooperation, the provision of technical and specialized services, the exchange of key information, training, security and knowledge sharing.
As agreed, the Navy may make its capabilities and specialized personnel available to ETED, according to its operational availability, to support activities related to national electricity transmission and the security of the digital infrastructure. For its part, ETED will designate technical and administrative liaisons and provide technical support for the purposes of this agreement.
“The Navy’s mission is to defend the nation’s maritime interests and support state institutions in the exercise of their powers. Putting our resources and personnel at the service of safeguarding and supporting the national electrical grid is a direct contribution to security, the continuity of an essential service, and the development of the country. This cooperation honors the principle of institutional loyalty that governs the Dominican public administration,” stated Vice Admiral Crisóstomo Martínez.
For its implementation, the parties will form a monitoring committee with two coordinators, one responsible per organization to coordinate the implementation plan of this important agreement.
The agreement, valid for two years from the date of its signing, will be executed under the principles of legality, public ethics, transparency and administrative efficiency enshrined in the Organic Law of Public Administration, No. 247-12.
With this agreement, ETED ensures that it strengthens the inter-institutional coordination mechanisms that support the operation, maintenance, and expansion of the National Electric Transmission System and fiber optic infrastructure, consolidating its role as an enabler of the energy and digital transition that the country needs.
