Alberto Bogaert, the organization's president, took advantage of the opportunity to bid farewell to his term, giving an account of his fruitful six-year tenure
SANTO DOMINGO.- AEI, the Association of Real Estate Agents and Businesswomen, held its 2026 congress yesterday, August 5th, with a massive attendance of industry representatives who came to benefit from the excellent content presented throughout the day in the Grand Ballroom of the Catalonia Hotel in Santo Domingo.
From Pedernales, Santiago, Samaná, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Jarabacoa, Santo Domingo and other destinations where real estate development is booming, a large crowd of its leaders and members gathered from early morning, some in showmanship mode, others to take advantage of the meeting that the Association holds every year to update and strengthen the real estate profession in the Dominican Republic.
“When we embarked on this journey in 2020, we made a commitment to our association and to the entire Dominican real estate industry. We set out to transform the AEI from a merely respected institution into an influential, modern one, prepared to lead the real estate sector. Six years later, I can say with deep satisfaction that this mission has become a reality, thanks to the collective effort of many people,” stated Alberto Bogaert, president of the AEI, whose term concludes in October of this year.
He stated that during his tenure the market became more professional, certifying over 5,000 brokers through the courses offered by the organization. He also cited his leadership in promoting the real estate brokerage law, which he said is now closer than ever to being enacted. In his report, Bogaert also highlighted the times during his administration the country served as a special guest, "proudly and dignifiedly representing the country and the association to the world.".
The most important achievement, however, he said, is having demonstrated that when an institution works together, with transparency, vision and purpose there are no limits,” thanking his board of directors, his committees and his network for their support and for having walked alongside him during the six years.
Parade of good content
Suz Amaro kicked off the day's program as a speaker. "If it doesn't have your values, if it doesn't have what's truly important to you, all the money in the world won't do you any good," the international speaker reflected.
Isaías Medina continued to give a good lecture: “We are the only large real estate market in the entire region that does not have a public registry. That is unthinkable in many other associations and guilds,” he explained.
Next up was architect and businesswoman Yermys Peña, who addressed the conflict between agents and developers: “This internal war is like getting a divorce without actually finalizing it. It has to stop,” she asserted, adding that, in her experience, “the best projects ultimately emerge from this dialogue” between both parties.
