Participants will present authentic and innovative recipes, inspired by this flagship ingredient, demonstrating the gastronomic potential of the destination
With the aim of consolidating the province of Samaná as a benchmark for culinary tourism in the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) announced the celebration of the gastronomic festival "Savor the Sánchez Paradise", on August 8 and 9.
The historic Railway Ruins in the old port of Sánchez will be the epicenter of a great cultural festival that will pay tribute to the region's star product: the Sánchez shrimp.
Shrimp will be the star of the show, according to a press release from the Ministry of Tourism, which explains that the initiative aims to boost the local economy and highlight the close relationship that this coastal municipality has maintained with the sea and fishing for generations.
The information specifies that the event will showcase local cuisine and guarantee an immersive experience for even the most discerning palates. Furthermore, the festival's program will offer a wide array of flavors.
It adds that residents and visitors will have access to tastings and a varied selection of dishes prepared by restaurants, traditional cooks and entrepreneurs from the area.
The best shrimp dish
The highlight of the day, according to information from Mitur, will be the competition to choose the best shrimp-based dish in Sánchez, a platform designed to give visibility to the talent of the community's cooks.
Through this competition, participants will present authentic and innovative recipes, inspired by this flagship ingredient, demonstrating the gastronomic potential of the destination.
Culture, history and tradition in one place
The Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) points out that beyond the culinary experience, "Savor the Sánchez Paradise" will offer a festive atmosphere for the whole family, where the public can enjoy a program that includes artistic presentations, folkloric manifestations, live musical groups and recreational spaces designed to celebrate the cultural legacy of Sánchez.
A comprehensive strategy
The festival is part of the Ministry of Tourism's comprehensive "Taste Paradise" strategy, which promotes gastronomy as a fundamental pillar for diversifying the country's tourism offerings. Through flavors, tourists are invited to discover the stories, traditions, and heritage that give life to each Dominican community.
