In San Pedro de Macorís, located in the east of the Dominican Republic, President Luis Abinader, along with the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, inaugurated yesterday, Friday, the renovation and conditioning of El Faro beach as part of the efforts to strengthen the tourist and recreational offer of that province of the country.
The project, managed by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Areas (Ceiztur), required an investment of RD 67,000,000 and included the intervention of 570 meters in length in an area of 12,398 square meters.
In his remarks, the head of state announced a series of projects that will directly impact that area, citing a new Infotep headquarters, while also stating that the aqueduct for the southern zone is already in the bidding process.
Similarly, the president reported that the wastewater project for all coastal cities in the province is underway.
Regarding road infrastructure, the president assured that paving will continue in the province as part of the urban development plan. He also highlighted that San Pedro de Macorís is the province where the most property titles have been issued in the country, and guaranteed that the process will continue to bring legal security to more families.
He maintained that the beach's recovery will boost both domestic and international tourism and reaffirmed his commitment to continue working for the province so that it continues to move forward.

For his part, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, assured that during his administration more than 13 seawalls and more than 15 beaches have been restored, "which has allowed Dominicans to once again live facing the sea and not with their backs to it."
Collado highlighted that the country remains number one in tourism recovery and projected that in 2026 we will reach 12 million visitors.
He emphasized that the project responds to a long-standing and legitimate demand from the residents of San Pedro de Macorís and is part of a comprehensive strategy to revitalize the country's public spaces and waterfronts.
The intervention complements the restoration of the city's waterfront, where the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) previously invested RD$267 million.
What El Faro beach has
The improvements carried out transformed the space into a modern, safe and family-friendly destination, according to the press release from the Presidency, which states that the new environment includes an area for fishermen, with service modules and sanitary facilities; parking and road improvements.
It also mentions children's play areas; a volleyball court; lighting; landscaping; street furniture, including benches, bollards and trash cans; and a booth for the Tourist Police (Politur) with the aim of reinforcing the safety of visitors.
In addition, public restrooms were built, a stormwater drainage system was installed to mitigate the risk of flooding, and streets, sidewalks and curbs were paved in surrounding neighborhoods.
Those present included the Director General of Customs, Nelson Arroyo; Governor Yovanis Agustina Baltazar; the Director of Budget, José Rijo Presbot; Mayor Raymundo Ortiz Díaz; Vice Admiral Juan Bienvenido Crisóstomo Martínez, Commander General of the Dominican Republic Navy; and Senator Aracelis Villanueva.
