SANTO DOMINGO.- In a joint effort, the National Office for Seismic Evaluation and Vulnerability of Infrastructure and Buildings (Onesvie) and the provincial government of San Juan de la Maguana held the discussion "Dynamics of Onesvie Services," whose purpose was to bring together in one setting those in charge of different government institutions to explain the evaluation services it offers, as well as to join efforts for the prevention and reduction of seismic vulnerability in buildings, infrastructure and lifelines in the region.
Ana María Castillo, the provincial governor, highlighted the importance for the Southern region of the presence of the office in charge of evaluating both public and private buildings and urged the officials present to open the doors of their respective offices to facilitate the evaluation when their technicians arrive.
"They must follow up on the recommendations made by Onesvie, to provide security to the employees who work under their command and thus offer a better service to the citizens who require it.".
Meanwhile, Leonardo Reyes Madera, general director of Onesvie, referred to the mission, vision and work that the official entity has been carrying out at the national level, to prevent seismic vulnerability and reduce the damage that an earthquake could cause among citizens.
"The purpose is to have solutions, through preparation and guidance, in order to guarantee the reduction of seismic vulnerability and be prepared to face the effects of the earthquake we expect.".
The meeting took place, in the presence of more than 45 officials from different state agencies, in the conference room of the provincial government of San Juan de la Maguana, last Friday, September 13, 2024.
