SANTO DOMINGO–The Dominican Federation of Chambers of Commerce (Fedocámaras) publicly acknowledged the difficulties faced during the implementation of the new Commercial Registry System (SRM 2.0), while announcing a set of concrete actions to correct the failures and regain the trust of users.
During the modernization process, operational deficiencies arose , causing delays, confusion, and frustration among entrepreneurs, business owners, and professionals. The adoption of the system was uneven across the country's various chambers of commerce, leading to service disruptions and a backlog of unprocessed applications, the organization stated in a press release.
"This was compounded by institutional communication that failed to be clear or timely enough to manage public expectations," he emphasizes.
The company also admitted that its technical capacity and operational response were not up to the demand generated in recent months.
Despite these setbacks, the entity reaffirmed its commitment to a profound transformation of the commercial system, and assured that the changesaim to improve the efficiency, security, and equity of the service throughout the country. As part of this improvement, the federation reported that it has begun redesigning the most critical processes, with the goal of reducing response times and preventing recurring errors.
Its technical and analytical staff has also been reinforced to increase responsiveness at every stage of the process. At the same time, new training and support programs are being developed in all provinces to ensure consistent operation, and permanent coordination mechanisms have been established between commercial registrars and chamber of commerce teams.
The agency adds that another key aspect of the improvement plan includes interconnecting the system with other state institutions, which will allow for greater interoperability and traceability in processes. Likewise, work is underway to incorporate those cameras that were operating partially or independently of SRM 2.0, with the aim of ensuring a truly national system.
Fedocámaras announced that in the coming weeks it will begin publishing progress reports , service indicators, and detailed monitoring of critical issues still being addressed. It has also established channels for listening to and receiving input from various sectors to enrich its decision-making process.
The organization emphasized that this transformation does not seek to centralize the system, but rather to standardize the quality of service across all provinces and establish unified legal criteria. "One of the most significant benefits will be the ability to access the commercial registry online from anywhere in the country, guaranteeing equal conditions for all users," it highlighted.
The company reiterated its determination to continue with the reform until a more useful, effective, and reliable system is achieved.
