These are the six decorating trends that will be a hit in 2022

Bold colors and prints are creeping into natural interiors that embrace sustainability, seeking refuge, but also a renewed atmosphere full of optimism

The 2022 decorating trends embrace nature and craftsmanship in pursuit of lightness and freedom, while bold colors and prints in XL formats proclaim that it's time for change and greater imagination in interiors. Here are six key trends for decorating your home this year.

1. The natural style

In 2022, natural, sustainable, and eco-friendly decor is emerging as the trend capable of combating discouragement and stress with furniture and objects that connect us with nature, the landscape, and the earth, without necessarily transforming the home into a garden, although that's certainly an option. Alongside this trend, handcrafted items become the true luxury: handmade pieces, crafted with meticulous, concrete, and genuine care; and biophilic design, which builds bridges and staircases to nature, allowing it to become an integral part of both buildings and interior design.

2. The curves

At a time when home is a refuge, a place to recharge and disconnect from the outside world, curves reign supreme in furniture design, thanks to their rounded shapes that seem to embrace and welcome. But they won't just be seen in furniture; they'll also appear in structural solutions like arches and in key elements such as the kitchen island.

3. Colors with personality

Although 'Very Peri' is color of the year and sky blue is taking over walls according to Bruguer, 2022 is the year of strong, invigorating colors. Essentials like brown, terracotta, vibrant red, and orange are taking over from neutrals and pastels, shades that have been adorning homes for several seasons. These are tones with personality and character, inspired, as one might expect, by fashion. Appreciated on accent walls (the technique of highlighting a single section of wall) or in small touches on linens, they skillfully unleash their energy on furniture.

4. Authentic materials

2022 is the year to ask ourselves what the furniture and fabrics that adorn our homes are made of. Raw materials that create imperfect yet authentic objects, such as plaster pieces, steel lamps, natural cushions, or marble coffee tables, are regaining value, making room for metal and lacquer. However, they are presented in a more sophisticated and less rustic style. Naturally, wood, especially dark tones like walnut, remains unbeatable in interior design. These materials emphasize the memory of the past, craftsmanship, and uniqueness.

5. Hello prints

Unstoppable, prints have the power to imbue home furnishings with boldness and originality. This year, minimalist sobriety gives way to a range of prints designed to make spaces special. Abstract, floral, and artistic prints will be available in many different styles. However, opulence will be the key word: mix-and-match and XXL prints will reign supreme in home textiles.

6. XXL Ceiling Lamps

Whether made of natural fibers or not, large pendant lights are one of the trends of 2021 that continues into 2022. While wall lights and floor and table lamps are essential, pendant lights are the undisputed stars of interior design. And of course, always in XXL size. Perfect for the dining table or for adding a touch of style to the living room.
