SANTO DOMINGO.- The Direct Cost Index for Housing Construction (ICDV) shows that as of November 2021, the cost of a single-family home with one level was 200.63, compared to 198.17 for a single-family home with two levels.
The ICDV was recently published by the National Statistics Office (ONE) and breaks down the types; for the two-level single-family dwelling it was 198.17; 197.07 for the four-level multi-family dwelling, and 200.09 for the eight-level or more multi-family dwelling.
The ICDV is a statistical tool that allows us to understand the monthly variations in the cost of constructing the four types of housing mentioned in the National District and Santo Domingo province. It excludes indirect costs such as land, design, building permits, financing costs, and the construction company's profit, among others.
In November 2021, the ICDV averaged 198.99, registering a decrease of -0.63 points, compared to the previous month which was 199.62, where the main increases were produced by both the tools group, with 6.13% and the electrical miscellaneous subgroup, with 6.23%.

By cost group, the largest decreases were in machinery, with a 10.81% drop, and subcontracts, with a 1.17% decrease. Meanwhile, the largest increase was in tools, with a 6.13% rise.
By subgroup, the main decreases were seen in machinery, with -10.81%; aggregates, with -3.42%; and subcontracted joinery, with -2.77%. Meanwhile, the main increases were seen in miscellaneous electrical supplies, with 6.23%; followed by tools, with 6.13%; and wood, with 3.00%.
