These are the conferences from Friday the 24th of the 5th National Congress of Engineering, Architecture and Surveying of Codia

The event will be held at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center Hotel and will cover a range of topics including the environment, climate change and natural disasters; seismic vulnerability – earthquake-resistant structures and building pathology, among others.

SANTO DOMINGO.- On Friday the 24th at nine in the morning, the “5th National Congress of Engineering, Architecture and Surveying” of the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (Codia) kicks off with a full day of events, featuring the keynote address “Development Infrastructure and Institutionality”, delivered by engineer Deligne Ascención, Minister of Public Works and Communications.

The second presentation will be given by Wellington Arnaud, Director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA), with a lecture on “Sustainable Management of Sanitation Services and Protection of Water Supply Sources: INAPA Plans”.

 “The Smart City We Want” will be presented by Feniosky Peña Mora from Columbia University NYC, at 10:30 AM; “Operation, Maintenance and Safety of Bridges” will be presented by Minosca Alcántara, director of the New York City Bridge Authority.

Engineer Jorge Acevedo will speak about “Energy Technology for Sustainable Cities”, and the topic of Hydraulic Development Projects, Guarantee for Agriculture, will be presented by Olmedo Caba, executive director of the Institute of Hydraulic Resources (Indrhi).

Rafael Santos, director of the Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET), will speak about the “Model and Solution for Mass Passenger Transport,” while Carlos Bonilla, Minister of Housing, will be responsible for the topic of “Housing, Human Solutions and Infrastructure for Health and Higher Education Services.”.

“Real Estate Appraisal in the Dominican Republic: Origin, Evolution, and Perspective” will be presented by Jorge Quezada Valdez. A panel on Energy will close the first day of the conference, moderated by engineers Martin Robles, Rafael Salazar, and Ramón Alburquerque.

Simultaneously, in Hall Two, the “2nd Energy Symposium” will be taking place, opening at 9:45 AM with the conference “Road Safety Management in the Dominican Republic,” led by Rafael Arias, director of INTRANT. After lunch, engineer Rafael Alburquerque will present the conference “Energy Transition in the Dominican Republic.”.

“Risk Prevention and Disaster Mitigation in Civil Works with Real-Time Geomatics Technology” will be presented by surveyor Mario Glen; “The use of UAVs in Engineering and Topography” will be discussed by Wilfredo Núñez, engineer and surveyor.

To conclude the day in room two, the topic of “BIM Workflow in Infrastructure Projects” will be addressed by civil engineer Alberto Canahuate.
