SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) announced that it will close to vehicular traffic, from this Monday, June 24, until Saturday, June 29, underpasses including bridges and overpasses, in order to carry out maintenance on these structures.
In any case, the closures will be in both directions and in some cases partial, starting at 10:00 pm.
The work to be carried out, both in the upper and interior areas, includes solid waste collection, sweeping and collection of aggregates, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings, including drains, and pressure washing of 'New Jersey' type walls.
From Monday to Friday, the overpass on 27 de Febrero Avenue will undergo maintenance work, including surface preparation and painting of elements.
Electrical work will be carried out on Monday and Tuesday on the overpass of the Sánchez highway with the extension of Independencia (Kilometer 12).
Also, on Monday and Wednesday at the overpass of Núñez de Cáceres Avenue with George Washington.
This Monday, the following roads will be closed: the overpasses on the Duarte highway with Los Beisbolistas and Monumental avenues; the underpasses on Núñez de Cáceres avenue with Cayetano Germosén, and Independencia, Mirador Sur with Italia, and Jacobo Majluta with La Isabela road.
Also, the Núñez de Cáceres tunnel and the Jacobo Majluta bridge over the Isabela River.
On Tuesday, the overpasses at Luperón Avenue with 30 de Mayo, Winston Churchill with John F. Kennedy (both directions), Charles de Gaulle with the highway to San Isidro, and Mella Highway will be closed.
Also on Wednesday there will be closures at the underpasses on Ortega y Gasset Avenue with 27 de Febrero, and Máximo Gómez with Duarte Avenue, the Ozama Bridge, and Gregorio Luperón, as well as the overpasses of 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset, and Gómez with Ovando.
On Thursday, closures will be in effect on the overpasses of the Quinto Centenario Expressway at Duarte Avenue, Hermanos Pinzón Avenue, and San Martín Avenue. Also, closures will be in effect on Kennedy Avenue at Winston Churchill Avenue (eastbound), at the Konrad Adenauer Avenue underpass at Hermanas Mirabal Avenue, and on the Jacobo Majluta bridge near the entrance to Guaricanos.
Friday and Saturday it will be on the Duarte highway with Prolongación 27 de Febrero, Avenida República de Colombia, at the entrance to Los Alcarrizos, and at the dry bridge of Kilometer 14.
On Friday, the closures will be on the bridges of the 6 de Noviembre highway, Sánchez road, Ramón Matías Mella, and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, and the overpasses of Prolongación 27 de Febrero with 6 de Noviembre, and the Padre Castellanos avenues with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez.
Also, on Friday, electrical maintenance will be carried out on the tunnels of Ortega y Gasset Avenue (UASD), Las Américas, and 27 de Febrero, work that does not require closure.
While on Saturday it will be at the Kennedy and Luperón overpasses (Kilometer 9), and the San Vicente de Paul avenue with Venezuela.
