SANTODOMINGO.- Starting today, February 21st, and until Saturday the 26th, the Ministry of Public Works will proceed with the closure of 43 tunnels, overpasses and grade separations in Greater Santo Domingo, to carry out maintenance and cleaning work.
The closures will be total and partial, and will be effective from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following day, according to a press release from the government entity.
From today until Saturday the 26th, there will be a partial closure in both directions of the Duarte Highway corridor and the 27 de Febrero Tunnel, between Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill Avenues. The work to be carried out consists of painting metal railings and installing LED lighting inside the tunnel.
Today, in addition, there will be a total closure of the overpasses (dry bridges) of Mirador Sur with Avenida Italia, Núñez de Cáceres with Cayetano Germosén, Núñez de Cáceres with Independencia, Núñez de Cáceres with George Washington, John F. Kennedy with Avenida Luperón (Kilometer 9), Padre Castellanos with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, kilometer 13 of the Duarte highway with Prolongación 27. The Mella and Sánchez bridges, and the Núñez de Cáceres tunnel.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, there will be a complete closure of the Luperón overpass at the 30 de Mayo highway, and the Duarte highway at the Los Beisbolistas avenue (Manoguayabo). The Jacobo Majluta underpass at the La Isabela road (dry bridge) and the Reyes Católicos underpass at the Zoológico avenue (dry bridge) will also be closed.

On Wednesday, the closures will affect the overpasses at 27 de Febrero and Máximo Gómez, 27 de Febrero and Tiradentes, the dry bridges at kilometer 14 with the Duarte highway; 25 de Febrero and San Vicente, San Isidro and 25 de Febrero, the Las Américas West marginal road with 25 de Febrero, San Vicente de Paul and the Las Américas highway, and the San Isidro highway with the Las Américas highway.
On Wednesday, the closure of the overpasses at 27 de Febrero with Ortega y Gasset, and Duarte Highway with Monumental (Los Girasoles) will be added.
On Thursday, the following overpasses will be closed: Sánchez Highway at Independencia (kilometer 12), Quinto Centenario Expressway at San Martín, Charles de Gaulle at San Isidro, Charles de Gaulle at Mella Highway, and the grade-separated intersections of Quinto Centenario Expressway at Tunti Cáceres and Peña Batlle. The Ortega y Gasset Tunnel control center (UASD) will not require closure.
On Friday, the following will be affected: the bridges on the 6 de Noviembre highway and the Sánchez road, the overpasses of the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte Avenue, and Quinto Centenario with Hermanos Pinzón; the Las Américas tunnel and the overpass of the Duarte highway with Monumental (Los Girasoles).
On Saturday there will be a total closure for the overpasses of 27 de Febrero with Doctor Defilló and Carmen Mendoza, 27 de Febrero with Núñez de Cáceres, John F. Kennedy with Máximo Gómez, Ozama bridge, Duarte Highway overpass with Monumental (Los Girasoles).
