The underpass at the intersection of Avenida 27 de Febrero and Tiradentes is closed after a wall was struck in an accident

SANTO DOMINGO.-Although it states that it does not represent a danger to users, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) proceeded to close traffic on the 27 de Febrero overpass with Tiradentes, after it was hit by a vehicle early Saturday morning.

Public Works reported in a press release that a vehicle crashed into one of the walls covering the boundary of the underpass at the intersection of 27 de Febrero Avenue and Tiradentes Avenue, heading west to east, early Saturday morning, December 9, 2023.

Given the situation, the Ministry of Public Works decided to close traffic under the underpass in that direction to carry out the repairs.

The press release, signed by the Communications Department of the government entity, explains that a vehicle hit one of the New Jersey barriers covering the overpass, which would be repaired.

He reported that during the day, the headwall will be repositioned, that is, placed in its original position, so traffic has been closed under the slope in that direction to proceed with the repair and placement of the aforementioned wall.

"This accident did not affect the structure of the uneven floor, therefore, this infrastructure does not represent a danger and users can move freely through this structure," said Public Works.
