SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications will close vehicular traffic on various overpasses located in Greater Santo Domingo from Monday, April 17th until Saturday, April 22nd, due to maintenance work to be carried out on these structures.
In each case, there will be a total closure and the hours to be in effect will be from 10:00 at night until 5:00 in the morning of the following day.
The work to be done includes solid waste collection, sweeping and aggregate collection, weed control, general cleaning of the surroundings and drainage, among others.
Yesterday, Monday, and today, Tuesday, there will be closures on the John F. Kennedy Avenue overpass at Núñez de Cáceres; the Jacobo Majluta Avenue bridge; the Duarte Highway overpasses at Los Beisbolistas and Monumental Avenues; and the Núñez de Cáceres and 27 de Febrero tunnels, between Lincoln and Churchill.
Also, the grade separations of Jacobo Majluta Avenue with La Isabela Road, the one of Núñez de Cáceres Avenue with Cayetano Germosén, Independencia and George Washington Avenues, and Mirador Sur with Italia.
Today, Tuesday, and tomorrow, Wednesday, there will be removal of broken posts on the Ramón Matías Mella bridge, and maintenance on the Duarte highway overpass with Duarte street (entrance to Los Alcarrizos).
Today there will also be closures for the same reasons on the overpasses of Luperón Avenue with the 30 de Mayo highway, Charles de Gaulle Avenue with the highway to San Isidro and Carretera Mella.
Also, today Tuesday the 18th and Saturday the 22nd, the overpasses on the Duarte highway at kilometer 14, Prolongación 27 de Febrero and República de Colombia will be closed for maintenance.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, the work will focus on the Ozama and Gregorio Luperón bridges; the Ortega y Gasset tunnel (UASD); the elevated section of Máximo Gómez Avenue with Nicolás de Ovando Avenue; and the grade-separated crossings of Ortega y Gasset Avenue with 27 de Febrero Avenue and Máximo Gómez Avenue with Duarte Avenue (dry bridge).
The lights on the Duarte highway overpass at Los Beisbolistas Avenue will be repaired on Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday, the following will be closed: the Konrad Adenauer and Hermanas Mirabal overpasses; the Jacobo Majluta (next entrance to Guaricano) and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez bridges; the overpasses of the Quinto Centenario Expressway with Duarte, San Martín and Hermanos Pinzón avenues, and the Sánchez highway with Independencia avenue and the Ortega Y Gasset tunnel (UASD).
On Friday the 21st, the closures include the Ramón Matías Mella, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, 6 de Noviembre highway and Sánchez road bridges; the Winston Churchill and John F. Kennedy overpasses (both directions); and the 27 de Febrero extension and 6 de Noviembre highway overpasses and the Padre Castellanos and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez avenues.
Also, the tunnels on Las Américas and 27 de Febrero avenues between Lincoln and Churchill will be given maintenance, but these works do not require closure.
On Saturday, the closure corresponds to the overpasses of San Vicente de Paul Avenue with Venezuela, and Kennedy with Luperón.
