The three panelists all agreed to remind real estate agents that without training, their work will not yield significant results.
SANTO DOMINGO.- The real estate sector continues to experience its best moment and despite the instability of prices in construction materials and the adverse situations that hit the world and their consequences on the economy, the industry remains strong as an oak, overcoming the storms.
The statement comes from experts Juan Estévez, Mr Home Real Estate Advisors; Isely Almánzar, KW Norte and Juan Chalas, of Plusval Dominicana, who analyzed the current situation during the panel held within the International Congress “The New Real Estate Era”, organized by the Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies (AEI), on August 4th of this month.
The trio of exhibitors understands that the growth and strength of the industry remains despite the gray clouds that have been looming over its outlook for the past two years.

“For me it’s positive, I don’t see anything negative at the moment, the strength of the sector is incredible, its growth, we have experienced all kinds of situations and we are revolutionizing it, it is at its best moment,” said Estévez of the firm Mr Home Real Estate Advisors.
Chalas, from Plusval Dominicana, states that this is the first time “we have agencies with more than 100 people in the sector.” He advises agencies and agents not to neglect the excellent service that sets them apart, “because if we don’t understand that the client is the most important thing, we’ll pay the price.”.
The growth of the city of Santiago has been phenomenal, says Isely Almánzar. “Santiago is different now; the market is booming, and its economy is growing very well.” To support her claim, she cited the figure of over 90 apartments currently available for short-term rentals. “There are five buildings that are exclusively for Airbnb.”.
Training, unity and care
The three panelists all agreed to remind real estate agents that without training, the work of a real estate agent does not yield significant results.
“You can’t have exclusives when you don’t have the capacity and the knowledge,” Estévez stated, calling on the sector to unite and understand that everyone is on the same path.
Chalas understands that with the current climate, it's essential to be creative in promoting initiatives that generate value. "We have to understand that the sector belongs to everyone; we need to be mindful of sales. It's not about selling for the sake of selling, and not selling projects that aren't feasible. Some deals simply won't go through.".
Isely acknowledges that there is instability in the market due to interest rates, although he understands that it is a good time to invest.”.
To achieve success
“Identify your strengths and weaknesses, where you feel comfortable, find people who contribute to your life, respect your partner, set a big purpose so you can live passionately, and acquire knowledge because knowledge empowers. Understand your business, find profitability—that's achieved with knowledge; the market sets the rules,” Estévez stated.
He called on the officers to persevere intelligently. “What we have achieved has come from love, from focusing on people; money cannot be the path to leadership.”.
“There are no magic formulas for success. In the real estate sector, the first thing is to be clear about who you are and why you're doing it, to have a clear five-year plan; it doesn't yield results in two years, it's a long-term business, and the worst thing that can happen to an agent is to be successful in one year,” Chalas explains.
To that dose, he adds the necessary sacrifices, the daily actions; it's not all rosy, it requires patience. The success of Plusval's rebound didn't happen during the pandemic, but rather through 12 years of work beforehand, where we built a platform; that's why we have such high-quality partners. Creating the perfect environment for the butterfly to land in is a long-term project.”.
He emphasizes the quality structure they possess, stating, “We don’t penalize making mistakes; perfection is the intention but it is not achieved. We need to see what motivates each person to grow the structure correctly.”.
Isely applies discipline, persistence, self-evaluation, and scrutiny in everything she undertakes, working 24/7 and upholding ethical principles. And with a powerful reflection: "I treat others as I like to be treated.".
