PUERTO PLATA, RD – More than 338,000 residents of Puerto Plata, as well as neighboring communities in Valverde, Espaillat and Montecristi, will be able to access more than 265 services from more than 20 public institutions in one place, thanks to the opening of a new Punto GOB that promises to offer public services to the citizens.
The Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (OGTIC) announced the opening of the office in a central shopping plaza, which will avoid trips to Santiago or Santo Domingo and streamline essential procedures for the population, under a Punto GOB model that prioritizes efficiency and sustainability, by selecting accessible locations, with nearby public transport and sufficient parking capacity.
Furthermore, the statement says, the opening will generate direct and indirect jobs, boost local commerce and strengthen the tourism offering of the northern region, while promoting social inclusion and equitable access to state services.
The project is part of the Digital Agenda 2030 and is framed within the responsible use of public resources, through a leasing model that controls costs and prevents each institution from operating its own offices independently.
