With an investment of over RD$262 million in three new tourism projects and more than RD$1.4 billion allocated to that sector alone in this province, President Luis Abinader led the inauguration of three tourism projects in Puerto Plata this Sunday.
According to a press release from the Presidency, the projects included access to Playa Tecoin Maimón; the reconstruction of sidewalks and curbs in the Historic Center ; and the building that will house the Puerto Plata branch of the Dominican Association of Tourist Press (Adompretur) and the Tourism Museum.
At the event, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, reported that the Government has invested more than RD$1.4 billion in the tourism sector of the province and highlighted the importance of these works and their impact on the development of "The Bride of the Atlantic", which continues to gain new and strong momentum, generating more and more jobs.

“These works are of paramount importance for tourism in Puerto Plata, as we are talking about access to one of the most visited beaches in Maimón, the reconstruction of sidewalks and curbs in the Historic Center, and the long-awaited building that will house tourism journalists and the Puerto Plata Tourism Museum,” Collado said.
Reconstruction of the access road to Playa Teco
The reconstruction of the access road to Playa Teco, in the municipal district of Maimón, represented an investment of RD$146,229,874 and will have a significant social and tourism impact on the area. The project covers a length of 3.6 kilometers and a road width of 8.00 meters. It includes the construction of two kilometers of longitudinal ditches, the reconstruction of existing culverts, the cleaning and channeling of ravines, as well as horizontal and vertical signage.
Adompretur
Similarly, with an investment of RD$35,485,629, the Head of State inaugurated the building that will house the offices of Adompretur Puerto Plata branch and the Tourism Museum. This initiative aims to strengthen tourism promotion in the province through the media and establish a cultural space dedicated to highlighting the history of tourism in the country.
The two-story building will house the Tourism Museum, which will include access ramps for people with disabilities, restrooms, and a storage area. The second floor will contain the Adompretur offices, with a reception area, a multipurpose room, administrative offices, a cafeteria, and restrooms.
Reconstruction of streets in the urban center of San Felipe
In that same vein, the president inaugurated the urban renewal project in San Felipe, which included the reconstruction of eleven streets with an investment of RD$79,855,074. Among the streets renovated were: Antigua Vía Férrea, Restauración, San Felipe, 30 de Marzo, Aserradero, Los Jazmines, El Morro, and 27 de Febrero, among others.
The works included the construction of more than 9,436 linear meters of curbs; 13,497 square meters of sidewalks; the resurfacing of three vital axes equivalent to 2,273 square meters of asphalt, as well as the installation of universal access ramps.
